Privacy policy
RoofDossier helps roofing inspectors capture an inspection on an iPhone and turn it into a roof condition report. It is run by Nir Etzion. This page says what RoofDossier collects, why, who else handles it, and how to have it deleted.
RoofDossier is for roofing firms that have been invited to use it. It is not meant for children.
What we collect, and why
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address, your firm’s name and details, and a password if you choose to set one | To sign you in with a one-time code or your password, and to put your firm’s details on your reports. We never see your password; it is stored as a one-way hash by our sign-in provider. |
| Your inspections: addresses, roof outlines, client names and contact details you enter, findings, captions and notes | They are the contents of your reports. |
| Photos taken with the app’s camera, with the time and place each was taken | They are the evidence in your reports. The app never opens your photo library. |
| Your location, only while the app is open | To list the inspections nearest you first, to record where each photo and finding was taken, and to look up the weather at the building. RoofDossier never tracks you in the background, and your location is kept only as part of a photo or finding. |
| The words of your voice memos | So your spoken notes reach the report as text. The recording itself never leaves your iPhone. It is turned into text on the phone by iOS, without going to Apple’s servers or ours, and only the text is sent. |
| How you use the app, such as when a report is created or a sync completes, linked to your account | To understand what works and fix what does not. |
Your clients’ names and details are entered by you, and we hold them only to produce your reports.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data or your clients’ data.
- We show no advertising and do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not use your reports for anything but providing RoofDossier to you.
Who else handles it
RoofDossier uses these services to work. Each receives only what its job needs.
- Supabase stores the database and photos and handles sign-in, in the United States.
- Railway runs the RoofDossier website, in the United States.
- Resend sends the emails that carry your sign-in codes.
- Esri (ArcGIS) supplies the aerial maps and looks up the addresses you type.
- Anthropic suggests a one-line caption for a finding from the text of its voice memos. It receives that text only, never photos.
- The U.S. National Weather Service receives the building’s position, to report the weather at the time of the inspection.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your account and reports while you use RoofDossier. To delete your account, tap Delete my account in the app, or write to support@roofdossier.com. We delete your account, your reports and their photos within 30 days and tell you when it is done. Voice recordings are only on your iPhone; deleting the app deletes them.
Security
Everything between the app and RoofDossier travels over encrypted connections, and photos are kept in private storage that only your account can reach.
Changes and contact
